This beautiful complex of buildings, Long Street Methodist Church and Sunday School, is a testament to the genius of Edgar Wood (1860-1935) the Middleton artist and architect who rose to international fame around 1900. The Church and School are the highlight of the Edgar Wood architecture trail and contain an exhibition by the celebrated architectural photographer, Andy Marshall. The Methodist Trustees decided three years ago to give the building to the Trustees of the Greater Manchester Building Preservation Trust (a wholly owned subsidiary of Heritage Trust for the North West). The congregation of Methodists continue to worship in the Church.
